About us

The people protecting Tajikistan's wild flora

Ganji Tabiat is a small, focused team in Kulob working alongside farmers, botanists and schools to keep Tajikistan's rarest plants in the wild — and in use.

Who we are

A biodiversity of Tajikistan can't recover on its own.

Public Organisation "Ganji Tabiat" is a non-governmental organisation that believes protecting biodiversity is crucial to maintaining balance in our ecosystems. It was established in February 2008 to help protect and conserve the wild flora of Tajikistan.

We focus our efforts on the local biodiversity of Tajikistan, including rare and endangered plant species — because losing them has consequences for wildlife and people alike that we believe are entirely avoidable.

Since 2008 that has meant working close to the ground: collecting seed with farmers before it's lost, propagating it at Kulob Botanic Garden, and handing plants back to the households and schools who will look after them for the long run.

"Our mission is to protect and conserve the native biodiversity of Tajikistan."
